Married on 4 April 1846, in Mulhouse. Rose's father was dead and so unable to consent to her - a minor - getting married. Instead, their intention to marry was published unopposed on two Sundays (8th and 15th March) before they married. Witnesses for the groom: George Mieg, aged 57, and Mathieu Thierry-Mieg, aged 42, both uncles of the groom. Witnesses for the bride: Nicolas Koechlin, Chevalier de la légion d'honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour, no less), aged 64, and Jean Koechlin, aged 44, both uncles of the bride.

Biographical information
Often referred to as George Weiss-Favre, in order to distinguish from all the other Jean George Weiss'.

Jean Georges Weiss was born in Mulhouse between 3 and 4pm. The witnesses at the registration of his birth were both uncles - Godefroi Hofer, aged 46, artist (married to his father's sister Mary Ann) and Samuel Weiss, aged 23, merchant.

Jean George Weiss was a chemist. He was a member of the Société Industrielle de Mulhouse from 1839 until his death, and sat on the Chemistry Committee of the society for a number of years, including 1851 and 1858. One assumes that as a chemist he worked in the textile industry, perhaps in dyeing.

Jean Georges Weiss died on 25 December 1867 in Mulhouse. He was buried in the Protestant cemetery in Mulhouse.
